Annually, ALBERT WEBER produces more than 300,000 engine blocks, 500,000 cylinder heads and approximately two million drive parts and other housing parts from raw materials such as aluminium, magnesium and cast iron. We rotate, mill, drill, saw and grind metal parts 24/7with a level of precision and perfection that meets the highest quality standards. But how do we do this? How do we manage to produce enormous unit quantities that meet quality standards that do not allow for defects?
MACHINES THAT SET BENCHMARKS
There is no magic in machining. Many metalworking companies have mastered it. But we want to be the best, so we only work with the best. The machinery used in our various plants is comprised of the most state-of-the-art systems and CNC machining centres provided by the market: 4- and 5-axis CNC machining centres and honing machines. PRECISION IN THE MICROMETER RANGE
Our machines operate using highly accurate procedures and technologies. For example, we rely on high-speed cutting, CBN cutting materials and high-performance abrasives to machine aluminium parts – these are high-tech tools that reliably comply with tolerance limits in the micrometer range.
PREVENTIVE TOOL MAINTENANCE
We use many different procedures and testing methods to ensure that we always provide our customers with the precision that they demand. This includes preventive maintenance: For example, highly accurate laser test rigs uncover signs of wear on the tool before there are even microscopic traces of wear on the workpiece.
After the machining process, each workpiece is cleaned in high-pressure washing systems, and the material and surfaces are flattened. Employees of our residual contamination laboratory take samples of the wastewater to look for any machining defects or signs of wear on the tools. The quality assurance division does not give the green light until it has been determined that the metallic particles left over in the filter do not exceed 50 milligrams in weight and a diameter of 600 to 800 micrometers. We also ensure that our components can be assembled and installed directly on the customer's premises without any additional cleaning steps. In fact, we are certified in this area.
